Next Meeting: Wire Findings 101
Where:
Webster Groves Church of the Nazarene 145 E. Old Watson Rd., Webster Groves MO, 63119
When:
2pm – 4pm
Have you ever wanted to make a quick pair of earrings and realized that you didn’t have any ear wires? Maybe you just finished the perfect necklace and none of the clasps that you have on hand are quite right. At our next meeting, we’re going to demonstrate a number of ways that you can address those situations – and more – with some wire, cutters & pliers. We’ll go over different types of wire, review the tools you use in wire working, show you a few tricks to making your own findings – and then (of course) play!
Materials:
-
“Practice” Wire (copper craft wire) – we’ll be working with 18g, 20g, 22g and 24g (bring whatever gauges you have – we’ll fill in others)
Tools:
- Pliers
- Cutters
- Metal Files
We hope to see you on the 19th!
DIRECTIONS:
Take I-44 to Elm Exit (Exit #280) in Webster Groves. Turn onto S. Elm and go through one light (Glendale Rd.) until you come to a stop sign (less than a mile). At the stop sign go L. on to Old Watson Rd. The church is on the left on Old Watson Rd. about one eighth of a mile.
PARKING:
Turn into the main parking lot by the marquis and go straight back and make a right at the end of the back of the parking lot (towards the jungle gym/playground). Park here. There are 3-4 steps down to the side entrance (which is off of Wells Lane). If unable to do steps, turn onto Wells Lane off of Old Watson and park on the street. Entrance is thru the double doors beside the large white dumpster storage enclosure.
NOTE: (No access via the 4-5 steps going UP off the back parking lot).
